Polaroid and Zink develop Digital Instant Mobile Photo Printer

Filed under:

We'd heard through the grapevine that the Zink portable printer camera would be getting boxed up and sent out to eager customers late this year, but now it seems as though Polaroid has jumped in for a bit of the action. Realistically, you shouldn't be too surprised that the former king of instant photography is syncing up with Zink, and we must say, this whole partnership conjures up some pretty fond memories of shakin' snapshots in tense anticipation as we waited for the scene to develop. Nostalgia aside, the firm's Digital Instant Mobile Photo Printer does indeed sport the Zink logo, and sure enough, it produces borderless 2- x 3-inch color prints instantly when fed images from a digicam or cellphone. We don't have a firmed up release date in front of us or anything, but all signs are pointing to soon -- very soon.

Samsung's SyncMaster 2263DX: the 22-inch UbiSync monitor

Filed under:

Barely a month after Samsung finally got its long-awaited 940UX out the door, the firm is on the prowl once more waving that tremendously tempting UbiSync technology all up in our grills. Truth be told, all we really know about the forthcoming SyncMaster 2263DX is that it features a 22-inch panel and can be connected via USB 2.0 rather than DVI / VGA. But hey, that alone is plenty to keep us satisfied for a month or so -- but after the grace period expires, we've every intention of sifting through hidden lines of code in Sammy's website in a desperate attempt to locate a price and release date.

Iqua's Sun, the solar-powered Bluetooth headset

Bluetooth headsets are one of those accessories that need to work well and stay the hell out of your way, and often times remembering to charge them (in addition to your phone) is a real drag. Incoming from the ridiculously obvious department: Iqua's solar-powered Bluetooth headset. We're not sure how much solar charging is an order to combat the energy stresses of use (or whether this thing for sure has a battery -- although we can't imagine why it wouldn't), but one less minuscule gadget to worry about charging is just fine by us. We'll hit you with more on this one as info becomes available.

Samsung readies YA-BS900 Hyper-Directional Bluetooth speaker

Samsung's YA-BS900 won't deliver any jams in 5.1, but it most certainly is "Hyper-Directional," for whatever that's worth. The interestingly designed speaker touts Bluetooth technology, claims to be "3-channel" in nature and possesses the innate ability to play back tunes streamed in with your BT-enabled cellphone or DAP. Furthermore, the unit will take Ozzy down a notch if it notices that a Bluetooth phone is answered, but we're not told what other inputs (you know, like a totally convenient 3.5-millimeter jack) are included. Per usual, price / availability remain a mystery, but those tidbits can't hide for too much longer.

LG uncovers 47-inch 47LG75 LCD TV: LED-backlit and oh-so-thin

We knew LG was cookin' up a LED-backlit LCD TV behind closed doors, and it's quite the treat to hear that all that work has paid off in the 47LG75. This 47-inch set touts an uber-slim design, oh-so-sexy frame, 1080p support and hidden speakers to boot. Unfortunately, we're not privy to actual specifications just yet, but we are told to expect a "high contrast ratio" to go along with the automatic brightness and color optimizing technologies. We've also got a sneaking suspicion that this beauty won't be one of the sets ringing up for next to nothing on Black Friday, but we certainly hope LG fleshes out a few more details by then, anyway.

Alpine eX-10 makes in-car handsfree calling, iPod integration a sinch

Alpine's already shown us (however briefly) one of its newfangled in-car audio accessories, and now it's time for numero dos. The eX-10 is a stylish iPod controller / Bluetooth adapter that includes a dash-mountable, full-color 2.4-inch display unit to clearly show what's spinnin' on your iPod. It also comes bundled with a remote to keep you marginally less distracted when flipping through playlists, and it saves you the trouble of hard wiring anything by operating on a spare FM slot. Granted, FM transmitters are always hit 'n (mostly) miss, but this unit allows users to hook things up via a 3.5-millimeter auxiliary jack if their head unit accepts such an input. Look for this one to start shipping at any moment for $199.99, and be sure to check out a closeup of the LCD after the jump.

Sony's XEL-1 OLED TV pre-sales begin in Japan

Filed under:

While it's not scheduled for release until December 1st, Sony is now taking pre-orders for its super-slim XEL-1 OLED TV. Japan only, though we're hopeful for a US release too. Sure, it costs ¥200,000 (about $1,800) for 11-inches of set that will only last about 30,000 hours -- less than that of an LCD. Still, that's only $0.0018 per unit of its 1M:1 contrast ratio. See, affordable.
